Variables in Ball Mill Operation | Paul O. Abbe®
In ball milling of dry solids the main independent variables are mill diameter, mill speed, media size, solids loading and residence time. For most companies the production mill already exists so we can ignore mill diameter and focus on the other variables.Ball Mill Design/Power Calculation,The basic parameters used in ball mill design (power calculations), rod mill or any tumbling mill sizing are; material to be ground, characteristics, Bond Work Index, bulk density, specific density, desired mill tonnage capacity DTPH, operating % solids or pulp density, feed size as F80 and maximum ‘chunk size’, product size as P80 and maximum and finally the type of circuit open/closed,Milling Tool Parameters - STEP Tools,A Flat End Mill tool always has a lower radius of 0. A Ball Nose tool has a lower radius of one-half the diameter of the tool. A Bull Nose tool lower radius is limited by the tool taper angle and tip angle.
